WINDMILL VILLAS
ARTEMONAS VILLAGE - SIFNOS ISLAND
This is a unique and beautiful group of apartments which have been created around an old Windmill, known to the locals as the " Windmill of Spithas ", taken from the name of the owner Mr. Kostas Spithas, who will welcome you together with his wife Rita. With their warm hospitality your stay will be made even more enjoyable.
The complex is located on the outskirts of the village of " Artemonas ", 800 metres from the centre of the island, Apollonia and at an altitude of 250 metres above sea level. All the units have a magnificent view of the Aegean sea and the historic village of Kastro, with the islands of Paros and Antiparos visible in the distance. On a clear day you can even see as far as the islands of Sikinos and Folegandros.
The Windmill was built in 1854 according to the marble stone above the central entrance and is the biggest of the Windmills on Sifnos ( there used to be 60 on the island ). It was completely restored in 1989 and is ready for use at any given time, simply by putting its sails on.
In the base of and around the Windmill have been constructed several apartments and studios which are in perfect harmony with the surrounding rchitecture. They offer five studios for two ( 2 ) people ( some with 2 single beds and others with double beds ). A kitchen corner, private bathroom and its own terrace . Two ( 2 ) apartments are for 4 - 6 people, with two bedrooms, living room, bathroom, terrace and a fully - equipped kitchen.
Finally, there is the traditional Windmill itself which is for 2 - 4 people. It offers a very large terrace and consists of three floors. On the ground floor there is a bathroom and a fully - equipped kitchen. On the first floor there is a double bedroom, and on the second floor there is an especially designed bed situated amongst the working mechanisms of the Windmill.
All the units are equipped with telephone, television and air - conditioning, except the Windmill which doesn't have air - conditioning because its architecture and construction doesn't allow it. The complex offers a private road for parking.
All the rooms are cleaned daily and every three days the bed linen is changed.
Restaurants, bakeries, shops with traditional art and a bus terminal for all destinations are to be found at a distance of 500 metres.
